The Story So Far

So now to quickly update anyone who is interested… we are safe and well after the freak flash floods in Toowoomba which tore the big top tent in two and evacuated Easterfest late on Sautrday night.  The festival was cancelled for the final day - which sent over 10 thousand festival goers and artists into the town with live performances all over the city.   Thank you for all the friends who have asked after us.  Lots more stories to tell about this part of the adventure, we'll save for another time.

The kids have settled really well into the caravan, sleeping like troopers.  Have just found out that Joshua grinds his teeth in his sleep – oh what a glorious sound at 2 am.   Other than that they don’t seem to wake each other up, and John and I can enjoy a late night chatting and they aren’t bothered.

Sam asks about home sometimes (very disappointed I didn't bring his lego), but the other two little ones don't seem too bothered.  All three kids are in the prime of their life when it comes to playing in parks, so we stop off regularly to enjoy a coffee at the closest playground and watch the kids play.

We had a great weekend with our family in Blayney.  It was hard to pull the kids away from their cousins but we headed north to Dubbo for some Bush camping.  The next desination was a long stay at Lake Keepit via Coonabarabran.

We spent a few fabulous days in Tamworth, hanging out with great friends Matt and Sarah Old and Teghan and Josh Strickland.   I think we were fed better in Tamworth with our friends than we may be eating all trip!

Tamworth was also our first trip to the mechanic - something to do with the exhaust.... blah blah blah.... but $60 later and we were on the road thanks to our new friend... 'The Tamworth Muffler Man.'

Next was river camping in Bingara for  4 days, where Sam had his 5th birthday.  We went gold panning and spent time relaxing alongside a tribe of friendly grey nomads.  They invited us to sing with them around the campfire, the tweeted out some lovely old tunes with an old guitar - John brought out his guitar and they were totally thrilled to find they were about to enjoy a free concert from a professional musician touring the nation.   There is so much to observe from the older generation, they way they do and see life.... I will think more on this as we travel because there is much to learn.

Finally arrived in Toowoomba for Easterfest.  We counted ourselves blessed to be in such an amazing atmospere.  Lots of activities for the kids too.

Many adventures to come, and lots of behind the scenes drama… blog again soon.

On the road at last

I am finally on the road with Rock Hubby John Newsome, and our three 'twinkle stars' (Sam 5, Josh 3 and Amy 18 months).   We are touring Johns latest CD 'Falling Awake' and taking some time to live a long held dream to travel the country.
Armed with our 1980's triple bunk caravan we are set for six months of travel, music, ministry, exploration, and precious time with our small children.

Much thanks go out to our family and friends who have pooled together in so many ways to help us on our way.  We couldn't have done it without you.   It really is an honour and priviledge to have this time out of life to revive our souls, take some risks, and see what life is like on the other side.

I expect I will soon miss hot running water, hair products, my boots  and many of the special people we have left behind in Newcaste.

I have so many questions about life, the universe and my own soul, and I wonder about what God will teach me on the road.   I am listening out for the whisper.

So here begins the great adventure!
